Beyond Sickness Care:
Human-State Differentiation in Healthcare Systems Through the Healthlife™ SBM Framework
MUNA Healthlife™ is pleased to announce that Dr. O. Muyabala Munachitombwe-Muna will present “Beyond Sickness Care: Human-State Differentiation in Healthcare Systems Through the Healthlife™ SBM Framework” at the 8th Global Summit on Healthcare & Management, taking place September 22–23, 2026, in Paris, France.
The summit is held under the theme “Advances in Healthcare, Innovation & Management” and brings together healthcare professionals, researchers, educators, and leaders from around the world. The official program includes presenters affiliated with institutions including Yale University School of Medicine, UCLA, the University of Hong Kong, and Johns Hopkins University Carey Business School.
Dr. Muna’s oral presentation is scheduled for Tuesday, September 22, 2026, from 3:20–3:40 PM Paris time. He will present on behalf of MUNA Healthlife™ Institute USA, a division of MUNA Healthlife™ USA LLC.
The presentation introduces the Healthlife™ SBM Framework, a biopsychospiritual framework that conceptualizes the human constitution through three interacting dimensions: Spirit • Body • Mind
The framework distinguishes these constitutional dimensions from three distinct human states: Wellness State • Sickness State • Death State
This distinction raises a fundamental question for contemporary health systems:
If wellness is a distinct human state, should maintaining wellness have a distinct place within the architecture of health systems?
The presentation therefore moves beyond the conventional emphasis on sickness care to examine how Human-State Differentiation may provide a conceptual basis for distinguishing wellness maintenance from sickness prevention, treatment, and restoration.
The proposition is not that sickness care is unnecessary. Rather, it is that a system designed primarily to diagnose and treat sickness may require a complementary architecture specifically concerned with maintaining the Wellness State.
From a Published Framework to an International Conversation
The Healthlife™ SBM Framework is presented in greater depth in Dr. Muna’s published book: The Structural Anatomy of Human Nature: A Healthlife™ Tri-Dimensional Alignment Framework
The book provides a public, published record of the conceptual development underlying the Healthlife™ framework and offers readers an opportunity to examine the framework beyond the limits of a conference presentation.

The Paris presentation represents an important step in bringing the Healthlife™ SBM Framework into an international healthcare and management conversation and opening its propositions to wider scholarly discussion and future empirical research.
At the heart of the presentation are three propositions:
1. Wellness and sickness are different human states.
2. The human state can be conceptualized through Spirit–Body–Mind alignment.
3. A healthcare system designed primarily around sickness care may require a complementary architecture for wellness maintenance.
The Healthlife™ SBM Framework has been developed through more than three decades of clinical, public health, wellness, and community experience across Southern Africa and the United States.
We look forward to sharing the experience and key takeaways from the Paris presentation following the summit.
